Who Are We?


Unity Circle of Light is a joyful, inclusive, and loving community. We take a progressive, positive, and practical approach to Christian spirituality. Through the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, we teach, love, and inspire people to be all they were created to be.

Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, the founders of Unity, referred to Unity as Practical Christianity because they believed that Jesus taught a way of living and not just a system of morality or philosophy. Unity is a way of life that is practical and applicable to all aspects of our live experience – spiritual, mental, emotional, physical financial, etc.

At Unity Circle of Light we seek to demonstrate the fullness of God's grace - honoring all spiritual paths and accepting all people exactly as they are. At the same time we recognize that the spiritual path is, at its essence, a path of transformation. All of us are called upon to grow, to be givers to Life, and to follow our motto, "Living Love Embracing All."

5 Basic Unity Principles

  1. There is only one Presence and one Power active as the universe and as my life, God the Good.
  2. Our essence is of God; therefore, we are inherently good. This God essence, called the Christ, was fully expressed in Jesus.
  3. We are co-creators with God, creating reality through thoughts held in mind.
  4. Through prayer and meditation, we align our heart-mind with God. Denials and affirmations are tools we use.
  5. Through thoughts, words and actions, we live the Truth we know.

What is Metaphysics?

In Unity we use the term metaphysics to refer to the fact that there is an underlying Truth or reality above and beyond what we perceive with our senses. This reality is the foundation upon which the world we see is based.

Metaphysics is used to help us see beyond appearances and outer-oriented ways of living to an underlying reality. Locating and activating this inner awareness of the Truth enables us to align with God and transform our outer world for the better. We see from a spiritual perspective.
